Our first visit. We were 5 – three adults, a 9 month old baby and Poppy our Labrador. From start to finish we were well looked after by cheerful Ellie who only moments earlier had found out she would be on her own as front of house. Ellie was calmness personified and made time to make us all feel welcome. The imaginative dishes from the Light Bites menu were excellent too – we can recommend the Bubble & Squeak Eggs Benedict and the Duck Bon Bons. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience

Just superb! From the moment we stepped in to ask if we could just have a cup of tea, such a warm and friendly welcome. We ended up staying for lunch. GREAT menu and my allergies weren’t an issue. Toilet facilities clean too.
Delicious food (I had the walnut, fennel salad) and the chunky chips were PROPER chips too!!!
Coming back again when I visit my friend again, who lives nearby 🙂

We spent 2 nights at The Wellington as we were attending a wedding at nearby Brocket Hall. Welwyn is a small but very pretty and historic village and the Wellington is in the main High Street. On arrival we were greeted by Ellie who showed us to our room which was stunning with a mix of old and new features. The bed was comfy with lovely pillows and a Nespresso machine (with pods), biscuits and toiletries were a nice surprise too. Dinner was great on our first night and portions were very generous. Breakfast was included in our room rate and there was lots of choice and again big tasty portions. Although the Wellington is a stunning old historic building the staff make it that extra bit special. Ellie and her team were always on hand to help and nothing was too much trouble. Superb roast beef, great drinks, a really lovely atmosphere and Geoffrey our waiter was great ! We’ll be back soon. We’re booking for next month. The dessert was to die for and it was a really memorable afternoon.

Sunday Late Lunch – Delicious food (had the roast which is excellent value too, but hard to choose with all other food envy walking by to other tables), great service from Jeffrey who was very helpful and had his attention timed perfectly, very good wine although a lot of Australian. A lovely late lunch evening. Good Sunday PM guitarist too to add to the atmosphere. No wonder we keep coming back!
